Why I’m starting this blog

Opening of a design journal.

Find your early written post in notes.

Share what I’ve learned

coming up no resources like this for ID — ID community largely did not share.

that’s come a long way, and there is now a vibrant id community (particularly built out of instagram) tha’ts doing great things.

I think what I can add are to the intangibles — the behind the scenes stuff like making a studio run, how the soft skills often matter as much as the hard skills, and how to make it in a lean market like we have in Toronto (and to some degree Canada)

A place for all those projects that don’t quite belong in the portfolio but I can’t leave on the cuttingroom floor.

much of design is experimentation and I’ve long felt the work I’m presenting to the world doesn’t showcase my interests or full depth as a designer. I’m hoping to use think blog as a place to collect some of those projects and experiments (with instagram serving as a starting place for a lot of that content).

maybe find others tackling similar problems.

Hash out ideas — and hopefully meet others in the process

lots of thoughts with no ware to go. not enough to write them down, want to open them up to others and get feedback

In December I sat down with a friend and we discussed thoughts that it felt like the world was stuck and it was hard to see what is next. COVID and everything that’s happened since has only mad this harder to see. Hope to put ideas out there and maybe we’ll after bouncing around new perspectives I’ll find clarity.
